THE DAY TOURS

Herding cattle is quite popular in these parts. Still it's not ideal on a day tour. Our formula is quite simple: We keep the groups small (a maximum of 7 people) this means 1 on 1 interactions and considered activities to allow for opportunities to connect, learn and understand the people, environment and culture.

We are also in the habit of adding a little locally inspired trick or treat during your tour. When your energy levels are low we might just slip one of the best chocolate brownies in all the lands into your pocket or pass over one of our high end binoculars so you don't miss anything with mad camouflage skills.

As much as possible we work with partners that give back to their communities.

A SAFARI AFFAIR

If you're not sure whether you're in Africa yet I'm pretty sure you will be by the end of the day. Morning breaks, pick up is from central Durban. We're off to Northern KwaZulu Natal. First stop is the Emdoneni Cheetah Project where you get up close and personal with some wild cats. No touching the cheetahs though, they bite! After a spot of lunch we move on to the main business of the day: your game drive in the 2nd oldest reserve in all the world: The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. Buckle up to your authentic open safari jeep. You're in Big 5 Country after all. After 3 hours of tracking the big 5 and some adrenaline filled sightings we hit the road and head home, well temporary home. Depending on the weather and group we can swap a visit to the Emdoneni Cheetah Project with a boat cruise through St Lucia.

SANI PASS & LESOTHO

It's a day trip, you should expect an early start. 6am on this occasion. We're heading inland, past the midlands and towards Underberg where your 4x4 is waiting. It's going to be a bumpy ride. The Sani Pass is South Africa's epic pass, notoriously challenging to tackle. Expect drama, stunning scenery, crazy weather (even snow) all the way to the top where Lesotho awaits oh and the highest pub in Africa if anyone's interested. Stand on top of Africa with a pint in one hand and a camera in the other. Next stop is a visit to the local Basotho village for a bit of a cultural awakening. You know what they say, all good things come to an end but don't sweat it, we'll try to make the drive back to town a bit interesting with a visit to Nelson Mandela's capture site or a snack in the midlands. Don't forget your passports, they've got to stamp something at the border!

the APEX PREDATOR

Shark Cage.jpeg

the apex predator (Shark cage diving)

They say human's can only act as apex predators due to technology, without it we're mince meat. In other words, there's a reason you're in a cage. For the brave souls: we're heading to Umkomaas where your wetsuits, steel cages and boat awaits. Time to jump in and hope for the best (wink). Get up close with these magnificent beasts. Dry up we're heading for lunch which is followed by an educational with the KwaZulu Natal Sharks Board, the only organisation of it's kind in the world to learn more about sharks. Now would be a really good time to sign up for some surfing lessons. If not we'll take you back to the city where you can call it a day. Diving is quite exhausting! As the educational at the KZN Sharks Board have set times, this can be rescheduled if the shark cage diving takes a bit longer than expected.

  • Shark Educational at KZN Sharks Board
  • GoPro Footage
  • Seafood lunch at Ocean Basket
